When you imagine a sofer, a scribe—what do you think of? Is it someone from your community? Often, it is not. This class will have three components: a practical introduction to sofrut (ritual Hebrew calligraphy), and text learning surrounding the traditional laws of sofrut, and discussion about how as individuals and communities, we can make choices that align with our values. This information is often inaccessible, and this class aims to shift the realities of who writes and repairs Torahs by training students to pursue the skills, and understand the issues needed to do our holiest work.
This class will have ASL interpretation by the incredible Leana Tapnack.

I am so thrilled that you will be taking the Intro to Hebrew Ritual Calligraphy course. This kit contains everything you need to participate.
Our first class will be on March 23. In order to receive the materials for the course online, please purchase the kit below before March 1. For international orders, please allow at least 1 month shipping time. Unfortunately, due to issues with USPS, I cannot guarantee shipping times on any International orders.
All the kits will ship out that week, so if you order early, don’t be perturbed if it hasn’t already arrived. It will be in your hands in time for the class.
